PHBV or P(3HB-co-3HV) Poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroyxvalerate)

Description

General

This copolymer of hyroxybutyrate and hydroxyvalerate is the most widely industrially produced PHA (Polyhydroxyalkanoates). Available in different ratios of monomers. Changing the ratio influences melting point, glass temperature, tensile strength and impactresistance. It is based on renewable biomaterials like glucose, sucrose or starch. The material shows piezo-electric properties, is stable in hot and cold water and alcohols. Not or weak resistant to acids and alkalines.
