Aramid (Standard Grade)

Description

General

Good resistance against chemicals (not to strong acids and bases) and impact (damage tolerant). High water absorbtion. Poor compressive strength. No melting or glass temperature, but decompostion at about 425 degrees C in air. Due to fibrilar structure, very different longitudinal and transverse properties. Fibers are linear elastic to failure. Data are for untwisted yarn. The shrinkage per degree C is 4e-4%.
