43% of the world production comes from the US and Canada. Another 30% of the world production is won in Siberia (Norilsk). There are two types of Nickel ore: sulphidic and oxidic ore. Sulphidic nickel ore is mainly extracted in underground mine winning and has 0, 5-3% Ni content. Oxidic ore comes from daylight winning but has a lower metal content (0, 9-1, 4%Ni).
