Oak is imported from many countries within Europe; France (40%), Belgium (30%) and Russia (30%). The transport to the Netherlands requires 2 * 150km by trailers (from factory to forest and back) and another 180km by trailer for Belgium. From within France it takes 2 * 150km + 700km by trailers and 750km by coaster to get to Rotterdam; for Russia this is 2 * 250km + 850km by trailers and 1750km by coaster. The wood is usually sawn and dried in the exporting land.
