GLARE 1 3/2-0.3

Description

GLARE stands for GLas REinforced aluminium. GLARE is a sheet material and belongs to the family of Fiber-metal laminiates (FMLs). GLARE 1 3/2-0.3 is composed of 3 0.3 mm thick layers of aluminium sheet (7475-T761), seperated by 2 layers of unidirectional glass-fiber pre-pegs with epoxy matrixes. The pre-pegs are orientated along the rolling direction of the aluminium. The laminates properties are mostly determined by the alumium sheet, but GLARE has a lower specific weight, better resistance to corrosion and fire, and it has better impact strength and fatigue characteristics. The combination of epoxy matrixes and aluminium sheets makes it a hybrid composite.
