Environmental remarks Meranti is extracted from the bush and not cultured. This causes several serious local environmental problems and is supposed to be related to climate changes. Meranti is mainly produced in Malasia. The transport to the Netherlands requires 2 * 250km by trailers (from factory to forest and back) and 7000km by ship.
