Main producing countries are South-Africa (48%), Russia (38%) and the USA (8%). The industrial extraction of palladium is complex as the metal occurs in ores mixed with other metals such as rhodium, silver, platinum, and gold.The extraction is only worthwhile since palladium is the basis of important catalysts in the (car)industry.
