Environmental remarks Regards the situation in 1991. 34% Of the world production is underground winning in South-Africa. The GOS produces 29% and Albania 8%. The remaining production is distributed over many small contributors. For this analysis we assumed therefore the production equal to Africa 40%, GOS 40%, Albania 8% and India 12%. For stainless steel Chromium is used in the form of ferrochromium. There exists highcarbon FeCr (GER 73,5MJ/kg) and lowcarbon (GER 163MJ/kg). They are used in variable ratios. In this analysis we assumed, according to Chapman 83, the average ratio 3, 97% highcarbon en 3% lowC.
