General Information: High Temperature Steel

The improvement in mechanical properties is due to the addition of Mo and V. These elements stabilize the microstructure of the steel. V offers more improvement than Mo but is more expensive. Maximum use temperature is 400-500 degrees Celcius. Mechanical properties depend both on the temperature and the loading time. Special steels are developed for even higher temperatures (up to 1220 degrees C). the mechanical properties increase with increasing Carbon concentration (Reference DIN 1.7335). Alloyed steels for temperatures up to 500°C
