| Environmental remarks | Cast iron is not produced presently in the Netherlands, the production is therefore derived from the crude steel production as it was formerly. The above mentioned publication is used.Transport is added. The coal comes for 65% from Canada, 23% Australia, 12% from the EEC. Iron ore comes for 37% from Brazil, 21% Australia, 31% Europe and the remaining 11% from elsewhere. Lime is imported from Belgium. The production and emission data are for 1989. According to the current practice 50% postconsumer scrap was assumed for the final use. | |

Last november was a memorable month for us at Matbase, we passed the milestone of 1000 visitors per day. So I guess we were not that far of when we thought it would be a good idea to make the material database we used as students during our stay at the Delft University of Technology accessable to other people. Apparently, people appreciate the easy way they can lookup the material properties and how we present the data.
