General Information: Polymer Metal Sandwich Sheet |
||
Hylite is a sandwich sheet comprising two thin aluminium layers with a plastic core in between. It was developed for car body parts. It integrates high flexural stiffness and extreme lightness. Compared to steel sheet with the same flexural stiffness (0.74 mm) and aluminium (1.0 mm), Hylite is 65% and approximately 30% lighter respectively. These results has been obtained by combining the best properties of aluminium and plastic in a single material. Sources |

Last november was a memorable month for us at Matbase, we passed the milestone of 1000 visitors per day. So I guess we were not that far of when we thought it would be a good idea to make the material database we used as students during our stay at the Delft University of Technology accessable to other people. Apparently, people appreciate the easy way they can lookup the material properties and how we present the data.
